Reading, reviewing, and reporting on scientific papers and texts are essential to every field of scientific study. In this course, you will develop reading strategies to extract key information in texts, critical thinking skills to analyse the writing, and communication skills to express your response and discuss the central themes and findings. A high level of student participation will be expected.

At the end of the course, you will be better equipped to

• read scientific literature more quickly and effectively
• lead scientific discussions, pitch ideas, and critically analyze writing on a number of topics.

This course is ideal for any upper-intermediate student who would like to enhance their reading and speaking skills to meet the demands of academic study. Students will have plenty of speaking practice to share and discuss research papers from their own field of study. Students taking this course reported that it provided the opportunity for exploring and articulating ideas in a small, supportive group.
