Grammar is key to clear and concise communication, and there is nothing dull about it! This interactive grammar and style workshop will help students to master the rules and conventions that underpin language and efficient communication.
In this workshop the basics of grammar including parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, and common grammatical errors will be reviewed. Students will learn how to improve their style by using precise language, eliminating wordiness, and editing for conciseness, clarity, and fluency.
Workshop objectives:
This grammar and style workshop aims to give students a thorough, practical understanding of grammar and punctuation that can be applied to avoid the pitfalls of incorrect usage, convey ideas clearly and enrich their style.

Note that there are three options with regards to UNIcert and grading.
- The basic workshop is not formally assessed. Students will receive a participation certificate including 1 ECTS-Credit and 1 SWS at the end of the course, provided that they have fulfilled the attendance requirements of the course.
- C1 students interested in UNIcert III should score 85 points or above on the C-Test and let the instructor know at the beginning of the course. They will be required to attend an exam at the end of the course and submit a short, written assignment. On passing the assessments, they will receive a certificate of achievement with credits that count towards their eligibility to apply for the UNIcert III exam.
- B2 students interested in UNIcert II should score between 65 and 85 points on the C-test and let the instructor know at the beginning of the course. They will be required to attend an exam at the end of the course and submit a short, written assignment. On passing the assessments, they will receive a certificate of achievement, which they can use to apply for a UNIcert II certificate.
This workshop is suitable as preparation for the ERAMUS programme or similar study placement abroad.
