With 7.7 billion people in the world to feed (a figure expected to rise by 9.6 billion by 2050) and a planet to protect, the stakes are high for the agribusiness and food science sectors. Food security - food crises - environmental challenges - sustainable technologies - natural resource management.

Students of agriculture, agribusiness and food science are confronted with these issues and many of the sources are in English. To develop solutions for the future, you need good communication and language skills and a sound knowledge of the terminology in these areas.

We will look at the food chain from field to fork to establish a connection to agriculture and the producers of our food. We will consider solutions to some of the issues with real life case studies. The course is aligned with level C1 or ´Proficient User – Advanced´ of the CEFR or GeRS.

 

Key areas of focus include:

  • Key Sector Topics: Dive into subjects in the rural and food sectors, and the issues facing them;
  • Case Studies: Explore how established companies have tackled these issues.
  • Business Solutions: Develop your own ideas in groups relating to a service, a product, or network;
  • Speaking Skills: Develop confidence and proficiency in communication through articulating your ideas clearly and persuasively;
  • Broadening your terminology base.
