Workshop with 14 units, not assessed, ECTS credits

This workshop is aimed at students who wish to improve their communication delivery style and the impact of their academic presentations. In this course students develop and improve a method for delivering oral presentations using effective delivery, visual aids, secondary sources, and appropriate academic vocabulary. Students practice pronunciation along with stress and intonation patterns.

Workshop objectives:
Students who successfully complete this workshop will be able to:

- Design, create and deliver presentations that are effective in both academic and professional contexts and across cultures and languages.
- Improve their use of pausing, stress and intonation when speaking.
- Reflect on their speaking and identify ways to develop independently.

Note that there are three options with regards to UNIcert and grading.

1. The basic workshop is not formally assessed. Students will receive a participation certificate including 1 ECTS-Credit and 1 SWS at the end of the course, provided that they have fulfilled the attendance requirements of the course.

2. C1 students interested in UNIcert III should score 85 points or above on the C-Test and let the instructor know at the beginning of the course. They will be required to complete an oral exam. On passing the assessment, they will receive a certificate of achievement with credits that count towards their eligibility to apply for the UNIcert III exam.

3. B2 students interested in UNIcert II should score between 65 and 85 points on the C-test and let the instructor know at the beginning of the course. They will be required to complete an oral exam. On passing the assessment, they will receive a certificate of achievement, which they can use to apply for a UNIcert II certificate.
    

This workshop is suitable as preparation for the ERAMUS programme or similar study placement abroad.
