Talk about a topic, gather ideas then write it up!

This workshop will provide an overview of the main problems that non-native English speakers encounter when writing academic papers, letters, abstracts, and articles in English. Topics will include: types of academic texts and the academic word list, citing resources, research and writing processes, sentence structure and punctuation etc.

A high level of student participation and in-class writing will be expected.

Workshop objectives:

Students who successfully complete this workshop will have:

• Broadened their academic vocabulary base

• Improved their academic writing style through formulation of ideas, improved sentence and paragraphing structure and overall academic style.
